Borders Tourist Board

A number of disallusioned tourism service providers have formed their own regional tourist board for the borders region. This is a part replacement for the disbanded Scottish Borders Tourist Board. The newly formed Borders Tourist Board covers both South East Scotland and Northern Northumberland.

VistScotland Campaign

There is much disquiet about the commercial activities of Visit Scotland and their public private partner - Etourism Ltd. Broadly speaking the organisation appears to have greater interest in promoting itself rather than tourism in Scotland. If you have views for or against the activities of VisitScotland there is an e-petition at www.reclaimvs.com.

We hold the view that VisitScotland should be operating to promote our country and should not be operating as a failing booking agency.

Fishing 2007 Season

Once again we took Carham for the first two days of the 2007 season and once again Trevor Dale was the first (and only person) to score. This time he opened his account on February 2nd with a 14lb first taken from the Flummies. It must be something to do with hormones - for the second year running I could not even pull a kelt!

It is now April and things are unusually quiet on the river.

Rod For Sale

I am selling my 15'1" Sage salmon rod. This rod rated AFTM 10/11 has been a trusted friend and was custom built for me in Feb 1999. It has a rosewood reel seat, a Hardy style button and a slightly longer than normal handle. I am selling it because I am changing my casting style and now using a faster action rod.

For more information contact Jeff on 01573 225682 or 07980 809774.

Duncan House renovations

We have now brought the original dining room into use. A Georgian marble fireplace has been installed and an open fire is a daily feature of winter life. The centrepiece of the room is an oak dining table seating 10 in considerable comfort. It was made to further extend to seat a total of 16 if required

The view on the left shows the fireplace after the gas fire had been removed
